Protecting Workers
Our client, Jobs to Move America (“JMA”), has worked for years to ensure taxpayer dollars used for public projects also create quality jobs.
JMA brought legal action when a major bus manufacturer won a $500 million public contract promising benefits for the workers building the buses, but allegedly fell short on its promises.
Robbins Geller joined the case to prepare for trial. And, on the eve of trial, we helped JMA reach an unprecedented settlement agreement that serves as a model for workers across the country.
We partnered with JMA to produce a mini-documentary about the case and their inspiring work, entitled “Fighting for the Future.” We’re sharing a short preview here and will reach out when the full mini-doc is released.
As our clients discuss in the video, the community benefits agreement they secured will “boost workers in struggling communities” and represents “one of the first to enforce pro-worker incentives that state and local governments have increasingly incorporated into public contracts,” per The Washington Post.
