Leading Women
Xan Bernay and Desiree Cummings led a Women Lawyers in Leadership seminar in New York through the Practising Law Institute. The seminar focused on helping women lawyers secure leadership roles in cases and advancing the careers of women of color in the law. Xan served as chairperson for the event, which attracted thousands of online and hundreds of in-person attendees.

Jen Caringal, a partner in San Diego, was named one of the country’s top “40 Under 40” in law by Bloomberg Law – the only plaintiffs’ lawyer so honored. She’s deeply engaged in mentoring and recruiting.

Danielle Myers, managing partner in San Diego, is a leader for women in the bar and serves on the American Bar Association’s Securities Litigation Committee, Class Actions Subcommittee.

Jim Barz, managing partner of our Chicago office, teaches law at Northwestern. He is a former federal prosecutor who used to investigate terrorist financing and public corruption. The U.S. District Court in Chicago honored Jim last year for his pro bono work representing a formerly incarcerated client in a civil rights case.

Randy Baron, a partner in San Diego, is one of the country’s leading experts on fiduciary duty litigation. In 2022, he cross-examined Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle, at trial and presented closing arguments in a trial against Elon Musk. He has taught law students at Berkeley, NYU, Harvard, and Penn.
